Golf Training Aid for Hitting Your Driver and Golf Tips for Driving Better

Here is another golf tip that I received from David. To see his website, go here. He has a couple of really good tips on what to do on the tee box, and  one of them is to leave the driver in the bag….

Golf Training Aid for Hitting Your Driver and Golf Tips for Driving Better
by David Nevogt

Do you struggle hitting your driver? Some of you tee the golf ball low, thinking that you will be able to drive the golf ball through the air at a different trajectory. And those of you that tee it high think that that will make it soar through the air.

You thought that when you went out and purchased that 8- degree titanium boron shaft with a super-duper new grip, that it was going to drive down the middle of every fairway. Or maybe you purchased the newest golf training aid and you think you’ll be more consistent overnight. I don’t think so.

Now here are the golf tips for driving better. The lower you tee a golf ball, the more your chance will be that you slice the ball to the right. The higher you tee the golf ball, the more your chance will be for you to hook the golf ball to the left.

If you’re hooking the golf ball, tee it down a little lower. If you’re slicing the golf ball, tee it up a little higher. And here’s why.

When the golf ball sits on the ground and it’s a little lower than it should be, the golf club has to come in on a steep angle and that will cause it to slice. On the other hand, if you tee it up a little higher, it will come in and enable the club face to close a little quicker.

Now, here’s the golf training aid on what to do on the first few holes.

My driver has 8 degrees of loft. That means the face is very flat. If I happen to have the club face a little too open or a little too closed at impact, the flight of the ball will either go to the far right or to the far left.

Therefore, I decided to use my great little 3 wood, and no matter what I do, I might miss it, but it won’t curve as much as if I used my driver.

So, I hit the golf ball with my 3 wood and guess what. It went into the rough, but not as far into the rough because I went with a more lofted golf club for the first few holes.

So, the next time you go play, remember this golf training aid for hitting your driver. You don’t have to pull the driver out every time you get on the tee box. Maybe you don’t use your driver for the first two or three holes until you get a little warmed up, but in the meantime, take your favorite lofted wood and give it a whack.

As I mentioned before, on my next blog, I am going to include a review on David’s best selling ebook “The Simple Golf Swing”.

Golf tips

I subscribe to many golf tip resources, and receive some good tips in my email inbox that I am happy to share with you on this blog. These tips come from David Nevogt, the Golf Swing Guru. You can go to David’s website here.
Tip 1: 3-Feet from the Hole

The most important aspect of putting is to decide on your line before the stroke. The only thing to be thinking DURING the stroke is how hard you need to hit the ball. Control how far the ball rolls by controlling the distance you bring the putter back during the backswing.

The length of the forward swing past the ball should ALWAYS match the length of the backswing. When determining the “line” for the putt, pay particular attention to the lay of the green within a three foot radius around the cup, as your golf ball will be rolling fairly slowly, and therefore will break more sharply within that area near the cup. You need to determine where you want the golf ball to be when it is entering that three-feet-away radius.

Always attempt to putt the ball so it will go about one foot past the hole if it misses. If it misses, watch the break PAST the hole, because that will give you the line for the tap in.

Tip 2: Experiment with a Weak Grip

In my experience, a weaker grip adds power and height to the average golfer’s shot. I recommend giving it a try. When you take your grip, V’s should be created between the thumb and pointer finger of your right and left hand. For example, I’ll use the right-handed golfer. Most golfers learn from the beginning, to make both of the V’s created point at the right (back) shoulder. The result is a fairly strong grip. Here are the steps you should take if you are interested in trying a weaker grip.
1. Put the strong grip on the club. (Both V’s pointed at your right shoulder)
2. Don’t move your left hand
3. Keeping your right pinky in place, unlock the rest of your right hand, and rotate everything over the top of the grip. Your left thumb should be totally enclosed by your right palm. Now the V formed by your right hand should be pointed more at your head, or maybe even toward your left shoulder.
This new grip is going to feel strange at first, and may not work with your particular swing. But with certain swings, this weak grip is the missing link.

Those are some great tips from David. I will be writing a review on David’s best selling ebook “The Simple Golf Swing” in an upcoming post.
